Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed to the maximum of your capabilities. There are very few excuses why we can't get off the couch, leave the television, and get outdoors for fun and games.
My wife and I love camping almost as much as we do travelling to destinations far away from our home. Camping allows us the time to sit either alone or with our children and grandchildren when they meet us and just enjoy a quiet lifestyle without the big city noise. Everybody needs quiet time to sit and reflect on our lives past, present, and future. I have friends and family members who think I am weird because I enjoy sitting at a cemetary but if you really want to reflect this is the greatest place to do it. I personally visit the graves of my grandparents who unfortunately passed away before I was old enough to remember them and I try to imagine what life would have been like if they had been allowed to spend the time with me that I now enjoy with my granddaughters.
During our recent trip around the United States and various historical locations I had the chance to visit a few cemetaries. My wife had no interest in joining me but she does understand my need to spend time in a quiet place. I had a chance to visit THE original Boothill Cemetary in Tombstone, Arizona which was quite unique along with a visit to the downtown area which has not changed one single bit from the "old" western days with gunfights, saloons, and dancing girls. Gunfights are staged daily and tours of the old theatre are only a few of the interesting ways to spend your day here.
A trip to Westwood Cemetary in California was a stop that had my imagination going crazy as I knelt by a number of celebrity gravesites. I wish we had time to visit the other one in Hollywood where quite a few of the older celebrities are buried. I must admit that I was quite taken back with the small simple gravemarkers on many of the plots.
You can see videos of my visit by going to Youtube and doing a search under "fun2work4."
The small ghost town of Harmony was one stop that we are happy we heard about and again it was only discovered after a discussion with a gentleman who lived down the road. Deadwood, South Dakota is a former ghost town now being rebuilt on the back of history and is turning into a very fun place to see.
